This report provides an extensive cost evaluation of producing 2-Methylpentane through the process of Catalytic Isomerization. This method of production involves the process of isomerization in the presence of a catalyst to synthesize 2-methylpentane as the product. The process is initiated by the isomerization of C6 petroleum fraction in the presence of a platinum or palladium catalyst supported on an acidic medium like alumina under controlled temperature and pressure conditions. The temperature is maintained in the range of 150°C to 300°C throughout the process. The reaction results in the formation of 2-methylpentane as the final product of the reaction.
